The IFC is based on the following two concepts: positive attitude, and setting high goals. As a member of the Unites States Fencing Association (USFA), the International Fencing Club (IFC) is one of the elite saber fencing clubs in New England. The mission of IFC is to provide students with the highest quality fencing instruction available, in a safe, well-supervised, and positive learning environment. Our club located in West Roxbury, MA is air conditioned, spacious, and can provide the equipment needed.

FUN
Because it combines fast-paced physical skill with chess-like strategy, offering instant feedback, constant challenge, and a tight-knit community—all within a safe, elegant sport.
SAFE
Participants wear protective gear (mask, jacket, glove, and plastron) and use flexible, blunted weapons under strict rules and referee oversight that minimize injury risk.
POSITIVE
Doing something while you’re being yelled at is no fun, and that goes against our first rule. We use positive reinforcement to train not just the body, but the mind.
FITNESS
Fencing combines cardiovascular exercise with strength, speed, balance, and coordination. It also helps build agility and quick reflexes while providing a fun and engaging full-body workout.

The International Fencing Club Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing underserved children and youth in Boston and surrounding communities with access to the sport of fencing. Through high-quality instruction, mentorship, and a supportive environment, the Foundation helps young people develop confidence, discipline, resilience, and leadership skills.
Participation in sports has been shown to support academic success by improving focus, concentration, time management, and goal-setting abilities. Regular physical activity also promotes better mental health, reduces stress, and encourages teamwork and perseverance—skills that help students succeed both in the classroom and in life. By making fencing accessible to all, the International Fencing Club Foundation empowers youth to reach their full potential academically, physically, and personally.
